One of the tools you will refer to often are developmental guidelines. There are many resources you can use. A favorite of mine are those published by the CDC.

Happy Day!
I created this site to support Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) graduate students who are the future of our profession. I will add resources, research, tool, strategies, tips, and any information that I feel will be useful in their developing SLP toolbox. The content is informational, not recommendations. Use everything to build your differential diagnosis skill set. Embrace your power and “Benevolence” should be an action word.

One response to “Developmental Guidelines”
Hi Dr Danielson!
I would love to pick your brain on why you refer to the CDC guidelines over ASHA! What are your thoughts?
Sarah:
I think you made a great point. I don’t typically choose any one resource–I would prefer that I have a variety of tools in my toolbox. I appreciate the information from ASHA, just as I do from that from the CDC or Harvard Early Education, etc. I am richer as a clinician by looking at varied resources. I do, however, love your point. ASHA is our “go to” as SLPs. Just not our only “go to”. Parents present us with all types of information. Reviewing multiple resources helps us help them.
Thank you for your comment. I love when other clinicians make me think.
