I created this site to support Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) graduate students who are the future of our profession. I will add resources, research, tool, strategies, tips, and any information that I feel will be useful in their developing SLP toolbox. The content is informational, not recommendations. Use everything to build your differential diagnosis skill set. Embrace your power and “Benevolence” should be an action word.

Writing IEP Goals

For those of you who will be working in the Public Schools, writing IEP goals will be a journey in understanding where your student is performing and where you hope performance will grow. IEP means “individualized”. Be certain to keep “individualized” in mind when writing goals. Taking and using goals directly from a goal bank can be very helpful. Taking goals from a goal bank and not adjusting them to reflect the student you are working with, may not suit the needs of all students. Goal banks are a great place to start.

I use Wrightslaw as a great resource for understanding and implementing special education. The following link is a great starting resource for understanding IEPs and writing goals. Go forth and conquer–you are powerful in thought and mind.
