I created this site to support Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) graduate students who are the future of our profession. I will add resources, research, tool, strategies, tips, and any information that I feel will be useful in their developing SLP toolbox. The content is informational, not recommendations. Use everything to build your differential diagnosis skill set. Embrace your power and “Benevolence” should be an action word.

Terminology Has Meaning

I had the pleasure of attending a conference in Phoenix last week with Caroline Musselwhite and her colleagues on writing with complex disabilities. Caroline used a term that I thought was great for anyone working with a client. In the world of AAC we use the term, “presumed competence” to establish a mindset of expecting abilities from our clients. Caroline introduced me to the term, “presumed potential”. This is such a hopeful term. Something to think about when working with our clients.

Enjoy the journey with all your clients. PMD
